What and how do bald eagles eat?
They are fish eaters, but, they will take ducks and birds or whatever prey is available and easiest to get. Because of their size, bald eagles sit at the top of their food chain. Once an eagle spots a fish swimming or floating near the water surface, it approaches its prey in a shallow glide and then snatches the fish out of the water with a quick swipe of its talons. For a scavenger like the bald eagle, a seal or deer body would be an unexpected large food supply. Rich in protein, the bodies will feed a group of eagles for days. Though many calories will be gained, they will be lost in fighting over their food.
